* YOGI BERRA IS 90 YEARS OLD! *

Yesterday was Yogi Berra's 90th birthday! What an amazing man he was and still is. Although I never really saw him play baseball, (partly because of the years he played, but mostly because my family always watched the St. Louis Cardinals' games), I know he was extremely talented. And he IS from St. Louis, ya know! The Hill.

Below are some of the "Yogi-isms" I came across that aren't all that well known...at least to me, and you know what's the funniest thing about them? They all make absolute sense to me!

“Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours.”

“I usually take a two hour nap from one to four”

“Cut my pie into four pieces, I don’t think I could eat eight.”

“Never answer an anonymous letter”

“We made too many wrong mistakes”

“The future ain’t what it used to be”

“If the world were perfect, it wouldn’t be”

“If the people don’t want to come out to the ballpark, nobody’s going to stop them”

“If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.”

“You can observe a lot just by watching.”

“Nobody comes here anymore, its too crowded”

“90% of the game is half mental.”

“I wish I had an answer to that because I'm tired of answering that question.”

“Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.”

“I never said most of the things I said.”

“Okay you guys, pair up in threes!”

“I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.”

“You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you.”

“We're lost, but we're making good time.”

“A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.”

“It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”

“I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.”

“If you ask me anything I don't know, I'm not going to answer.”

“You have to give 100 percent in the first half of the game. If that isn't enough, in the second half, you have to give what's left.”

“It ain't the heat, it's the humility.”

~~~~~
And I'll end with the following:  “If you can't imitate him, don't copy him.”
AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!
Thanks for all the memories, Yogi. You're a class act. Always have been. Always will be.
WRITERLY NEWS ON A COLD, BLUSTERY NIGHT
Today, inside my nice, warm home it was a very busy, writerly kind of day and I accomplished many things.
Outside, though, it was COLD and windy and I didn't stay out a second longer than I had to. I urged Vern to please hurry and do his thing, which he totally ignored. When we came back inside, even though I'd been bundled up really well, I was frozen.
This called for two very important things. The first was to make a cup of Maxwell House International Latte, Pumpkin Spice! I normally drink plain ol' black coffee, but when I'm chilled to the bone, I want something special. (I'm not a huge fan of hot chocolate.) I bought this container sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas and I love the flavor.
The second very important thing was a pair of gloves that I could wear and still type on my laptop keyboard! I just snipped off the fingertips of these Dollar Tree terry cloth gloves and voila...warm hands with fast-flying-fingers!
~~~

I have so many writerly things to share and talk about, but this post is already getting a bit long. SO, I'll mention a couple of things, and continue with more in the next day or so. How does that sound?

I've been working diligently on a guest blog post which should be available to read sometime soon. I also have two interviews coming up in the next few days, as part of my Book-Blog-Tour. More info on both shortly.

The above notice is for people in the St. Louis & St. Charles County, Missouri area. A couple of weeks ago when I was at the Arts Centre, I picked up a paper flyer about this event. I searched and searched online for more information, but could not find a thing. Long story short: It was the last thing listed on a web page for "Art Classes."

There's also this from the same page:

LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER

I received an e-mail early this morning from "Listen to Your Mother St. Louis", that I will not be reading my story at the taping on May 11th. Congrats to all the ones who will be reading and I intend to be there, listening and applauding!

(I'd already psyched myself up that I wasn't going to make it, so it wasn't a disappointing surprise. Honest!)

* This is Only a Test *

Which of the following statements are true?

  • Today is The Ronald's birthday.
  • The Ronald has spent the last two days in bed with a terrible cold.
  • When my beloved dog Vern and I were on our walk yesterday afternoon, a dog came out of nowhere and attacked Vern.
  • Today's high temperature was something like 65° Fahrenheit. Tomorrow's high is expected to be 46° and a low of 27°, with possible snow flurries. That's St. Louis weather for ya!
  •  I'll be taking a Week-Long-Blog-a-Vacation, beginning Monday February 27th, and my e-mail correspondence will be minimal, too. See you again around March 5th.
  • (Answers: They're all true. When I return, I'll explain about the dog attack. Thankfully, neither Vern or I or the other dog were hurt. But it sure scared the you-know-what out of me.)

* Snow for Christmas? *

All I want for Christmas is a snowflake, or two, or more! According to our weather forecasts, we won't be having a White Christmas. I am SO disappointed. I'm spoiled because we've had very snowy winters the past few years. In actuality, the chance of St. Louis  having a White Christmas is something like 20%. So, like I said...I'm spoiled. I'm disappointed. I expect December snow every year now. Maybe that Cold Front will dip a little farther South and farther East than first predicted.....

I'll just have to look at pictures from last December....and remember.....

I probably won't be posting again until *Nostalgic Sunday* and since that falls on Christmas Day, I'll most likely post it on Christmas Eve.

But I WILL try to get around to as many blogs as possible, and leave comments.

Welcome to my newest followers, Run Away to Hike and Creepy Query Girl. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! Thank you!
