* IT'S SO GOOD TO BE BACK*

Once again, I am stunned about how long it's been since I blogged.

 No excuses this time...just that I hope to post more often.

 ~~~~~
I'm happy to say that life is so much better again and not because anything extraordinary happened, but because I remembered how to...
Bloom Where I Am Planted!
And I really love it when blooming includes fruit and chocolate!
I do believe in myself.
I'm back to my old wacky self...and I DO mean OLD! 😊
                            And autumn is coming soon...my favorite season!
 Oh, one more thing. I am thrilled to say my friend (living intentionally)
and I are meeting for lunch next Wednesday! I'm looking so forward to it!
(I have no idea why my paragraphs aren't following my orders to post properly.
If anyone has answers, pleat let me know!)
* NOSTALGIC SUNDAY *
It's Time for Another Nostalgic Sunday
Cinnamon Sugar = Comfort Food
When I was a little girl, my mother would fix cinnamon sugar toast for me. I seem to remember the only time she did that was when I stayed home, sick, from school. It doesn't exactly sound like a bland snack, does it? I know I didn't get it when I was really ill, like with a fever or upset stomach. No, it was only for that stuffy-runny-nose-and-cough kind of sickness. I associated that crunchy toast, its taste and aroma with being home, covered with a blanket, and feeling the warmth of my mother's love.
That toast, along with her for-no-particular-reason homemade cinnamon rolls throughout the year, signified comfort food.
I can assure you that after all these years, every cinnamon sugar recipe grabs my attention and any whiff of its magical aroma carries me back to those wondrous days.
(It doesn't surprise me one bit that I crave cinnamon sugar much more than any kind of chocolate! Show me a huge chunk of chocolate cake, or candy, or fudge, etc. and then a big ol' Cinnabon, and I'll choose that Cinnabon every time!)
I'm getting hungry for an afternoon snack....think I'll look in the pantry and see if I have any cinnamon swirl bagels left! I'm feeling much better than I did on Friday, but I think I still need a bit more comfort food, don't you?!
P.S. While doing....ahem...research for this blog post, I stumbled upon a great recipe on a great site! http://www.melskitchencafe.com/2013/01/cinnamon-roll-sugar-cookies.html  You know I'll be making these, right??
How about you? What are some of your Comfort Foods?
Addendum Tuesday, Sept 3rd: I realize I should've specified I was only referring to sweets when I wrote this. My "main dish" kind of Comfort Food is a tie. Pot Roast with potatoes and carrots - OR - Meatloaf with any kind of potatoes! Mmm...
* Nostalgic Sundays *
It's time for another Nostalgic Sunday.
Today's post isn't technically about nostalgia,
 but it's about little things that make me happy.
Writerly coffee mugs!
(Saturday Writers is the local writing group I've been the president of this year.)
Chocolate covered strawberries - Yum!
Beautiful fall foliage, even on a rainy day.
I took this picture from inside my laundry room.
I purposely wanted to capture the rain drops on the window.
"Cheapie" earrings from Walmart -- $2.88. (no kidding)
Same as above: $2.88
These photos don't do the earrings justice. They are really beautiful. I've never seen such nice ones for such a small price! I just happened to notice different earring displays as I walked down the aisle and couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the price.
I've told girlfriends over the years that whenever I'd feel a little down and needed an inexpensive pick-me-up, I'd head to the earrings in various department stores at the mall. I'd usually find a pretty pair on sale for less than $10.00 and I'd be a happy gal! BUT, to find such gorgeous ones for $2.88!...Well, I just had to go crazy and buy TWO pair!
(All photos taken by me except for the Taylor family in Mayberry. That was found in Google.)
Aunt Bee would be so proud of me and my frugality!
Read some of his hundreds of quotes and sayings and maybe purchase his new calendar and/or note cards. I have them both and they are delightful.*
** Saturday Writers - Part Two **
Steve explained his reasons for writing Megan's story the way he did. He didn't want it to be the typical "Who, What, Where, When, Why & How" kind of newspaper article. He began it with the happy words Megan said to her mom about a new boy who was nice to her on My Space. His title did not include any words about suicide the way the online version does. I apologize for not remembering the title in the print version Steve brought with him. I should've written it down. He also spoke about his decision to not print the name of the neighbor who was involved in this horrible tragedy. She had a daughter Megan's age, who was once Megan's good friend, and he didn't want his article to possibly cause her to end her life, too.
There are several reasons why I enjoyed Steve's presentation. One, I haven't heard a newspaper journalist speak since I attended my first Missouri Writers Guild Conference in April of 2007. I find it so interesting to hear the ins and outs of writing columns for a paper, which is obviously much different than writing a book.
I enjoyed learning of his integrity, especially in today's world of Junk Journalism and the sick delight some people feel when they read about others' troubles. Thank you, Steve. It was a pleasure meeting you.
My buddy Sioux Roslawski agreed to be VP of Saturday Writers.
Yay, and thank you! (By the way, I'm the short one!)
(Boy, do I look like my mother in this picture! Scary!)
I won this awesome basket of chocolate goodies at the raffle.
I squealed and ran up to receive my prize as if I was on The Price is Right.
I didn't think to photograph it before I ripped off the pretty cellophane wrap!
Uh...I think there's a couple of things missing, too.
It was donated by the amazing Barb Hodges complete with one of Barb's poems!
Speaking of amazing Barb, she presented me with a little gift bag yesterday, which held these two adorable tea cups sets and Afternoon Tea book! What a sweet woman! I asked her why she was giving me a gift, and she said, "Just because". She went on to say how much she enjoys seeing the tea cups I post on my blog from time to time. Whenever I see her, she is a joyful, blissful woman. Thank you, Barb!
One more thing...Lou Turner of High Hill Press, worked night and day to get some brand new Cuivre River Anthology, Volume V books to our meeting. Isn't the cover beautiful? And look how nicely it blends in with my blue and white table lamp and blue mouse! Pat Wahler, Sioux Roslawski, Donna Volkenannt, Lou Turner and I all have a story or poem in it. I'd be happy to get their signatures, if anyone would like to buy a book or two. They'd make nice Christmas gifts! hint...hint
There are many other writers's stories, obviously, but these are the ones who have blogs or a website that you may be familiar with. The books are $16.95 and I will ship them anywhere in the US at no charge, to anyone who buys them from me. What a deal! A book with many autographs, and shipped free!
And I'll be happy to get as many signatures as I can, if someone would prefer that.
If you are interested, contact me at: Writergal53@aol.com.
P.S. I'll post my terrible poem at a later date. I don't want THAT to be what sticks in your mind, when you think about buying a book which contains a story of mine!
** IT'S CHOCOLATE DAY!! **
According to 123 Greetings, today is Chocolate Day!!  I find this little bit of news particularly verrrry interesting....because just last night, when I was at the check-out lane in Target, a Hershey Bar called my name! Indeed it did. It said, "Hey, Becky! Over here. You know you want me, so just give in and indulge." And since I'm at a stage in my life where I have absolutely no willpower, (hopefully this too shall pass) I grabbed that chocolate bar and threw it on the converyer belt along with my few necessities: printer ink, diet coke, yogurt, and yellow zingers! See what I mean?? At least I bought some yogurt and DIET soda!
Anyway, I have not eaten the Hershey Bar yet....ta-dah! So, here is my gift to everyone, on this special day.
The Hershey Bar is real. The other items are stickers from my greeting card/sticker collection.
Consider this your E-Card for the day!!
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!
