* NOSTALGIC SUNDAY *

It's Time Again for Another Nostalgic Sunday

Normally, I'm up 'til midnight or later, but I didn't have a "normal" weekend. I attended a Happy 60th Birthday Party to Us last night and was up really late...or should I say until early this morning. *I'm most likely the oldest one of the group of "high school graduates of 1971 & born in 1953."  My birthday was in January and obviously a few haven't had their 60th birthday yet...but they're not far away!*

It was a small get-together, maybe 60 people. Hey, that would be perfect: 60 people, 60th year! Yikes! Forgive me. I'm really tired!

The best part was that I had been friends with a few of the women since grade school! We had a fantastic time sharing memories, talking about our current lives, and laughing hysterically. Some brought old yearbooks, scrapbooks, school memorabilia, and one put together a photo filled DVD, that was set to the music we grew up with. (I ordered one for myself.)

At first I didn't even remember something we 8th Graders did right before our graduation from grade school. The teachers asked us to write down what we wanted to be when we grew up, and the answers were typed up and given to all of us. I couldn't wait to look at the pages because I had no idea what I'd written. I was such an idealist then and my dreams for the future changed quite often. Some of the students wrote complete sentences, but I wrote two words: a reporter.

Oh my gosh! I remembered! I wanted to be a newspaper reporter. My first "real writing job," although it was for no pay, was writing an opinion column for our local newspaper. And that was just 12 years ago.

I am living proof that anything is possible.

That dreams aren't even realized sometimes until later in life.

Hello and Welcome to 2013

No, I didn't welcome 2013 with an alcoholic drink,
but I'm taking on Maxine's attitude for the year

because this is the year for 60th Birthdays

for myself and most of my school-age friends.

I just happen to be the one born the earliest in 1953,
and I'm happy to lead the way in Celebrating our Sixties!

The following song lyrics just popped into my head and I think they'll be my 2013 Theme Song because no matter what I do this year, especially pertaining to my writing or publishing, "I got to keep on moving"!

Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh-no
I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on moving

Please don't forget my Kickstarter Project ends on my birthday, January 6th. If you can help in any way, I'm very grateful.

Correspondence, a Campaign, and a Cake

Yes, I "owe" but it's not credit card bills because of Christmas shopping.

Nope, what I owe: E-mails and Christmas cards!

Please don't think I've forgotten you, but I just didn't send Christmas cards. If you did receive one, it's either because your last name is in the first part of the alphabet, or you're just lucky, because I did send out about ten of them!

So, to catch up on my correspondence, I intend to send something after January 6th, which is my birthday!

If you're a regular visitor to my blog, you'll know that particular date is very significant and for TWO BIG reasons this year. That's the date my Kickstarter Project ends. Please help me reach my goal. And it will be the best gift I've ever received and it will be for.....

Time For Some Goofiness

(I have no words to add to what's already been said about the recent tragedy)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't believe Christmas Eve is one week from today. I sound like such an old lady every December when I mention how the year has just flown by
Well, I AM becoming an old lady....and it's officially happening on my next birthday...... January 6th, 2013......I'll be 60 Freakin' Years Old! I have no idea how that's possible. Thank goodness I don't feel old, mentally or physically. And I'll still be the same Goofy Becky next month, and every month, and every year after that.
Evidence of Past Goofiness, from various years:
(some of these photos have been posted before)
Wow! What's the deal with this disgusting kitchen?? I guess I spend more time being goofy than cleaning house.
Welcome to my newest followers: Julie Luek and The Desert RocksI hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see!
And now, a few quotes from one of my favorite Goofy Guys: Steven Wright
