* MY COUNTDOWN TO THANKSGIVING - DAY 5 *

* Countdown to Thanksgiving *

Speaking of thankfulness, I was very thankful to have the day off today...and my sweet Vern allowed me to sleep realllllyyyyyy late! (after his one-quick-go-outside-come-back-in-trip at 6:00am)

Then I spent a mostly lazy afternoon and evening, watching some football on TV, did a couple of loads of laundry and folded towels that were still in a basket from ___ days ago! (How grateful I am to have those clothes and towels, and electricity to clean/dry them.)

I also got a few groceries (of which I'm so appreciative)... lunch type snacks to take to work, and a small pork roast, red potatoes, and frozen corn and peas. My supper will be all ready for me when I get home from work tomorrow...because it will cook in the crockpot most of the day. Yum! I can hardly wait to get back home tomorrow!  J

And speaking of food, combined with my countdown to Thanksgiving.....below is one of my newest sets of Salt & Pepper shakers which I purchased at a nearby Kirkland's.

A turkey in a roaster

Take the turkey out of the roaster,
 and voila' ...
the turkey is the Pepper
and the roaster is the Salt!

These are almost as small as they look. Each piece is about 2-1/2" wide. I think they're just so cute! (The least expensive items always bring me joy.)
 ~~~
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that one of my favorite "weather events" happened yesterday....snow flurries! It was so pretty coming down and obviously didn't stick since our weather has been fairly warm.
* YIKES - IT'S OCTOBER! *
Wasn't it just five or six days ago that I wrote about it being September 1st ?? As I've said before, sometimes I wish I could lasso the earth and slow it down...a lot! But, since I'm not Superman or Superwoman, I guess I'll have to skip along the treadmill of life with everyone else! (I don't jog...I skip! It's much more fun.)
So if life must rush along, then I'm glad it's autumn again...my favorite time of the year, and October is my favorite month for various reasons: birthdays, football season, the St. Louis Cardinals in the playoffs! J  Go Cards!
I just love this comic strip. I think it came out in 2012 because that's when I first posted it.
Thank you, Patrick McDonnell, creator of Mutts!
Below are some of my favorite quotes about autumn:
"Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves, we have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!" - Humbert Wolfe
"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot
Saturday Centus - Football
It's Saturday Centus time, via Jenny Matlock's blog. I haven't participated in Jenny's meme for such a long time and today seems like the perfect day to begin again. Why? Because it's September 1st and the prompt is: "Are You Ready For Some Football?"
Below is my entry:
Poised Excitement
Are you ready for some football? You bet your sweet patootie I am! Being such a klutz, though, and a possible danger to myself and others, it's best for me to stay home and watch games on television.
One time I attended a local college game, and as I moseyed along a concrete walkway, I tripped and fell, scraping my hands and knees while soda, ice, and a warm pretzel went flying through the air. The force of my fall caused a slight lack of bladder control, thus causing way more embarrassment than any physical pain.
Hooray for Big Screen TV and a nearby bathroom!
* Sunday Night Random Thoughts *
First of all, I apologize again for neglecting my blog friends. I've been terrible at visiting and commenting, and I KNOW it is definitely something that I can fit into EVERY day! I'm getting closer to having a handle on my time management!! It's a necessity!!
Thanksgiving Day and the entire weekend was truly enjoyable. Food, fun, friends, family and football! Hurray for the Rams' victory today!
I have sold all 10 Thin Threads books, (thank you all so very much!) and have ordered 20 more. I will continue to offer the free shipping anywhere in the US and Canada, until Friday, December 3rd. Please keep that in mind if you're considering buying any. I received an order over the weekend for one that will be a Christmas gift. I was asked to sign it to that person, which I thought was really special.
I actually did get some writing accomplished over the weekend, too. I've got so much going on right now that I feel like I'm.....
But, hey.....that's what life is all about, right?! I'm working on completing my book. I'm attempting to submit to more anthologies. I've taken on the position of president of Saturday Writers....I really do like challenges, so I'm definitely up for the part.
And, as the king in The King and I would say......Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!
* Can You Say STUFFED? *
Just a short post again today.....
The Ronald and I had a wonderful time yesterday. Since we had our family Thanksgiving last Saturday, we went to our dear friends' (S&B) home for dinner yesterday. We arrived at 1:00pm and a scrumptious meal was served. (I LOVE being the guest and not the hostess!) We sat and talked, watched football on tv, ate some more, sat some more, talked more, etc...you get the idea! A wonderful day!
You can listen to the beautiful Vienna Boys Choir on my blog today. I felt Christmasy and thought their angelic voices would be the perfect music for the day after Thanksgiving.
Now, I'm off to perform many tasks and already know I will enjoy every one of them....because I feel so thankful and blessed! (And yes...a very important, at the top of the list, task is: WRITING!)
** A September Sunday Night **
I experienced some Big Things today.
                                      I enjoyed autumn-like weather! Yay!
My St. Louis Rams WON a football game!! Woo-Hoo!
I told my publisher I wouldn't have my book completed before the end of this year and she was perfectly okay with that! Whew!
My sister was released from the hospital and sent home! Yippee!
Notice I posted these in the opposite order of importance....although my sister and my publisher were hard to choose between...Just Kidding!!   BUT, I've been struggling, AGAIN, with staying focused, slipping in and out of The Zone, feeling inadequate....all those writer issues. I know it happens to ALL writers, famous and/or totally unknown, but it hadn't happened to me in quite a while. So, I finally "gave myself permission" to take a break from writing. I haven't spent more than a fleeting second or two even thinking about my book. I've turned to other interests that I hadn't been paying any attention to...making some greeting cards AND reading more! I also want to enter some writing contests (look out Sioux here I come!) and submit to all kinds of other publications. THAT should really help get my creative juices flowing again.
I still haven't talked to my sister, but have been kept up to date talking with my two adult nieces. I'll definitely call Marian tomorrow! If she says she wants me to come and stay awhile, you can bet I'll be hopping on a plane to Atlanta! Look out all my Atlanta-area blog friends!! I may be giving you a call, too!
Have a fabulously, blissful week y'all!
