* BAKING, SHOPPING? NO, TRYING TO GET WELL FIRST! *

I wish I could say that since my previous post on December 7th, I've gotten all ready for Christmas....

I was doing really well, too. Not rushing around like a nut, not getting all stressed. I'd started working on my Christmas cards back around Thanksgiving and I knew I'd have them mailed EARLY this year! I still had plenty of time to bake cookies to take to work, and give to friends, and have some for us at home, too.

Then on Sunday, the 11th, I noticed I was getting a sore throat. Uh Oh! That's almost always the beginning of a sinus infection, but at least I get meds and it goes away fairly fast. But NO, not this year! Every day I felt a bit worse...and to shorten this as much as possible...I finally saw my doctor this morning and I have pneumonia!

When I was in my 20's and 30's, I would get either bronchitis or pneumonia almost every single year! But then I hadn't had more than a cold or sinus infection since then...until now. I recognized the symptoms and was 99% sure I had it, but I also did want the doctor to see me and make the correct diagnosis.

So, I got another round of new meds and by this evening was so much better! It's a wonderful feeling to have a bit more energy and actually feel like being part of the family again! Ron has been great, though, taking care of everything.

Now, I just need to rest up and get ALL BETTER, so I can experience a bit of last minute of shopping and baking, etc!

- Until then, I leave you with photos from Christmases past -

* WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS *

Tonight I'm feeling silly, probably due to the fact that I'm really tired. Got a variety of things accomplished on this beautiful, sunshiny day! More unpacking and finding the right place for things, shopping which included groceries, a stop at Petsmart for Vern food, and another stop at Kohls for a special sale on men's jeans, and visited my friend, Sherry, who just had knee surgery. A very good day!

So, tonight I'm feeling exhausted and goofier than ever and as I was internet searching, I came across some of my favorite quotes/jokes from the old game show, Hollywood Squares. All those who remember this show, raise your hand! It was on during the day and I loved watching it when I was "sick" and stayed home from school or work!

Below are just a few of those crazy questions and answers:

Q - According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed?
A - Paul Lynde: Point and laugh.

Q - Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?
A - George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.

Q - If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be?
A - Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it.

Q - According to The People's Handbook of Medical Care, it's the single-most important factor in letting you know that something is wrong with you. What is it?
A- George Gobel: It's when people pass you on the street, and go "YECCH!"

Q - What are 'Do It,' 'I Can Help,' and 'I Can't Get Enough'?
A - George Gobel: I don't know, but it's coming from the next apartment.

I wish all of you a beautiful, blissful week. Remember to breathe deeply, laugh often, and be good to everyone.

* A LITTLE DECORATING, A LITTLE CLEANING, AND A JOB! *

A Little Decorating....

As you can see, the kitchen in our townhouse has definitely not been updated lately. It has the old wood grain countertops, old kitchen cabinets, and a white tile backsplash over the sink. The renters before us painted some of the walls red, which I don't dislike, and have actually come to embrace.

Months ago I decided I was going to put black and red "scrolly" stickers on the tile to give it a little umph. I found the black ones at Hobby Lobby but searched everywhere in stores and online for similar ones in red. I could not find any.

I came across other designs that I thought might work,
but it's too long and way too boring of a story, so here is the finale. Ta Da!
I just added those very few red squares to give it some red color and
I think I did okay in achieving the Umph. What do you think?

Oh, and how do you like the tiny lights I put under the cabinets? It looks so pretty in the evening when they are the only lights on in the kitchen.

A Little Cleaning....

I don't have any photos to share, at this moment of any cleaning I've been doing. More on that later.... J

And, A Job......

Have I mentioned I'd been "semi" job hunting the past couple of months? Full-time or part-time, hopefully close to home. I wasn't being very picky, and yet it appeared that either I was too old, or didn't have the skills for much of anything! Depressing! So, just when I decided to forget about it, a job came along.

Isn't that how things usually happen?! It's like my favorite quote/personal mantra by Joseph Campbell:

"I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."

For now, I'll just say this. It's part-time. I start tomorrow. It's close to home. And, I'm a bit nervous! Wish me luck, and I'll report back soon!
