* A LITTLE DECORATING, A LITTLE CLEANING, AND A JOB! *

A Little Decorating....

As you can see, the kitchen in our townhouse has definitely not been updated lately. It has the old wood grain countertops, old kitchen cabinets, and a white tile backsplash over the sink. The renters before us painted some of the walls red, which I don't dislike, and have actually come to embrace.

Months ago I decided I was going to put black and red "scrolly" stickers on the tile to give it a little umph. I found the black ones at Hobby Lobby but searched everywhere in stores and online for similar ones in red. I could not find any.

I came across other designs that I thought might work,
but it's too long and way too boring of a story, so here is the finale. Ta Da!
I just added those very few red squares to give it some red color and
 I think I did okay in achieving the Umph. What do you think?

Oh, and how do you like the tiny lights I put under the cabinets? It looks so pretty in the evening when they are the only lights on in the kitchen.

A Little Cleaning....

I don't have any photos to share, at this moment of any cleaning I've been doing. More on that later.... J

And, A Job......

Have I mentioned I'd been "semi" job hunting the past couple of months? Full-time or part-time, hopefully close to home. I wasn't being very picky, and yet it appeared that either I was too old, or didn't have the skills for much of anything! Depressing! So, just when I decided to forget about it, a job came along.

Isn't that how things usually happen?! It's like my favorite quote/personal mantra by Joseph Campbell:

"I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."

For now, I'll just say this. It's part-time. I start tomorrow. It's close to home. And, I'm a bit nervous! Wish me luck, and I'll report back soon!

* YAY! I GOT A NEW (USED) DESK! *

Not too long ago, I mentioned that my "desk" is really a very small, wooden kitchen table. It has plenty of room for all my paper messes, but no drawers, which I could really use.

Recently, I saw one at Hobby Lobby that I just fell in love with. It's really small, shabby chic with some light green in it, and had matching chair. It would look so cute in my bedroom/office, BUT, even on sale, the price is way too much. It didn't have any drawers, either.

I even called them today to ask if they still had one and if it was any cheaper than last week. J

Yep, they still had them, but the price was the same, too. That's when I decided to look again on Craigslist. It's fun, like going to resale shops or Goodwill. You never know what you might find! So...

Here's the desk I found. It had only been listed three hours earlier, was the size and "look" I wanted, the people lived only a few miles away......AND the price was right! It was the fastest transaction I've ever made. I called about it, The Ronald was in the area, he went to the house, paid for it and brought it home! Voila!

I'm going to take the knobs and drawer pulls off of it, paint it white, and shabby it up a bit! I'll probably go to Hobby Lobby to buy different knobs and pulls, too. It will go perfectly with a couple of other pieces I already have. I haven't been so excited about a purchase in a long time! It's solid wood, too, and very heavy.
And the price was $40.00!

I'll post pictures when I'm finished painting it....Wish me luck!

P.S. My post on February 25th, about the empty ink cartridge....I did take it back to Walmart, explained what happened, and they exchanged it for me! So, I was able to get new ink, AND keep my other items I was going to return, to make up for the "lost" money. Next time I buy ink at any store, I'll have the cashier open the box right there, to make sure it's a good one.

* Live from Missouri...It's Saturday Night *

Hello All ~  I had another busy, exhausting day, but all in a good way. Tomorrow, I will be posting a new Nostalgic Sunday, so please stop back sometime on or after November 24th.

P.S. I just found out today from a fellow writer that my memoir is also on the Barnes & Noble website! (Thank you, C.R.) I was shocked because I thought that by self-publishing, and especially with an Amazon company, they would not accept my book. Things have definitely changed over the past couple of years.

This is part of a vintage-looking, 3-D wall plaque from my office. I've had it for quite a few years and I just love it. I don't remember where I purchased it.....but probably Home Goods or Hobby Lobby. I'm thinking about having it as part of the header on my website. It did have a photo of a wooden desktop and cup of coffee, but I removed it, with the intention of having something unique to me.
